North has announced the release of a driver for the Satchwell Networking Protocol (SNP) Net2. The first implementation of this standard protocol has been to communicate with the Canatal range of air handling and air conditioning units. The driver is available on the Compass platform as well as for ObSys.
The SatchSNP driver links any system supporting the Satchwell SNP Net2 protocol into the North eXtensible Object Model (XOM). The North driver is a master device on the Satchwell SNP Net 2 network and can read and write values to the connected (slave) devices, depending on the data formats supported by the device. The Satchwell SNP Net2 protocol allows access to data tables within each device. Each table consists of a number of single byte registers. The data formats that can be used to read/write values are:
Canatal, a Canadian manufacturer and supplier of air handling and air conditioning units, uses the Satchwell SNP Net2 protocol in order to communicate with and between their controllers. The SATCHSNP driver allows Compass and/or ObSys to communicate with any Canatal Intelligent Precision Air Conditioning unit supporting the Satchwell SNP Net2 protocol. Up to 32 air handling/air conditioning units can be connected, with an address range of 1 to 255.
