Carel UK, manufacturer of air conditioning and refrigeration controllers, and North Communications have announced the release of a North XOM (eXtensible Object Model) communications driver for the Carel range. This furthers the progress of integrating environmental air conditioning and refrigeration systems into building controls infrastructures. The driver is available on the Compass and ObSys platforms and supports the following Carel range:
The µAC (MicroAC) is a precision air-conditioning controller. It allows the management of humidification (with CDA controls) and dehumidification according to different configurations. It also allows control of a precision air-conditioner for telecom 'Shelters', including the management of the condensation fan.
Carel controllers are incorporated in to many air-conditioning and refrigeration manufacturers (OEMs) products including Airedale, Climaveneta, Klima-Therm, McQuay, RC Group, Trane, Uniflair, York, and many others.
The enhanced North XOM driver communicates with up to 31 controllers using the Carel RS485 supervisor protocol. The driver collects all information available and includes:
Remote start and stop of the unit
Reading and set point adjustment of regulation and alarm parameters
Monitoring of output status and unit sensors
Monitoring of alarm states
The information available depends on the model, version and programming within the controller.
CP/CAREL/MRTC485 Compass Point for Carel controllers
OBS/CAREL ObSys driver module for Carel controllers
Search the North e-Library for more information and technical documentation on the Carel interface.
