Commander, the IP based building services controller, has recently been enhanced by North.
Just connect Commander and see instantly the power added to your system. Commander offers IP connectivity, interoperability with hundreds of building services and standards, a configurable control system,
notification of critical events, an embedded Web server, and so much more.
Enhancements to Commander include greater control or your building services with additional ObVerse modules, a new integrated Web server, a new alarm event history log, SNMP trap support and authentication for more users.
The authentication module now supports 250 users in 15 groups that may be used by the Web server, User database and any compatible device such as the Zip access control modules.
OBVEngine, the programmable control module, has been extended with new wide-input logic modules, wide-input maths modules, and a multiple-choice module, making control design even easier. The PID module has been simplified and optimised. OBVEditor, the engineering tool for OBVEngine, has been enhanced to shorten engineering time.
The enhanced Web server within Commander provides an accessible web site with minimal engineering. No knowledge of web page creation or scripting is required - you just list the system values you want displayed, and Commander does the rest automatically.
Conformance: For true thin-client applications, the pages served by the Commander Web server require no plug-ins and conform to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards. These include XHTML 1.0, CSS and conformance level Double-A of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. This enables the pages to be viewed with Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera, newer text and speech-based browsers, PDA's and mobile phones.
View example pages from the Commander Web server live now at cmdr.northbt.com.
The new Alarm History module provides an event log of the last 100 alarms. Alarms may be viewed from via a web-browser or via any compatible XOM device over IP or the serial interface.
For better interoperability with IT departments, Commander can now send SNMP trap messages to a network management system (e.g. HP OpenView). Keeping your IT network operations centre informed of critical building services events.
As part of North's unified management layer, alarm events can be directed to wherever you want - the integrated SMTP client, an SMS device, the ObSys Alarm Manager, a printer, etc.
This enhanced Commander is available now.
As part of North's support programme, a free Commander software upgrade is available for existing customers.
(Free software upgrade available to Commander's within warranty period. Upgrade performed at North's offices, customer responsible for delivery charges. Contact North for full details.)

| Driver Interface: | Hundreds of compatible serial interfaces are available, including interfaces for the Zip I/O network and Compass integration network. |
| IPBus: | Connects to compatible IPBus devices, such as ObSys and Commander, across an intranet, extranet or internet. |
| Programmable Control: | OBVEngine allows the engineer to develop processes to provide control within Commander, the attached serial interface and the IP network. |
| Time Control: | The Calendar Timer module uses Commander’s date and time to provide on-off time control to other devices. |
| Alarm Handling: | The Alarm Route module distributes alarm events within Commander, to the attached serial interface and to the IP network. The Alarm history module stores the last 100 alarms received; and the Alarm email module sends alarms to an e-mail account. |
| User Database: | Collects and re-distributes values from the attached interfaces. Users can view and set the information from Web browsers, other BACnet devices and from compatible IPBus devices. |
| Web Server: | Automatically generates HTML, XML and RSS pages from the User database and Alarm history modules. HTML pages comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. |
| Data Logging: | Collects values from up to 32 different points and stores the data for use by other object based software, such as ObView and Data Manager. |
| Authentication: | Holds security and access parameters for 250 users. The token server provides authentication for the Web Server and compatible serial and IP devices. |
| Network Interface: | RJ45 10Base-T Ethernet port supporting TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, DHCP, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP, IPBus, XML & BACnet/IP protocols |
| Serial Interface: | 1 RS232 (9-way male D-type) connector supports XOM driver interface. 1 internal RS232 for configuration |
| Enclosure: | Metal case 134 x 104 x 23 mm (WxHxD). 200g. Panel or DIN-rail mount |
| Power Requirements: | 12VDC regulated at 500mA. 2-part screw terminal connectors accept cables up to 2.5mm. Internal battery back-up for configuration parameters |
| Environment: | Operating temperature -20°C to 60°C. Humidity 10% to 90% RH (non-condensing) |
| Certification: | CE |
