Major Remote Monitoring project underway

Verizon engineers monitor and manage the company's global IP network.

Globaltelecoms giant Verizon Business, have selected North to provide a common alarm reporting and remote diagnostic system for their huge estate. With over 700 buildings across Europe this represents a major project for North.

The first phase is to connect all of the existing BMS installations in the larger sites back to a central location in the US. The Commander product is being deployed to act as a bridge between the different HVAC control systems on each site and the IP infrastructure. This will give engineers the ability to monitor and manage systems regardless of manufacturer. Engineers will also diagnose problems before attending site. It will also allow the Global Network Operations centre in Cary NC, to have better visibility of sites. Alarms will be transmitted to Cary via SNMP and Email. Carey will then be able to re-route Internet traffic to avoid any POP or switch with major problems.

Verizon Business data centre cabinets The second phase of the works will be to start adding extra interfaces to DC plant, generators, Fire and Intruder detection and energy monitoring. The whole project is expected to last 4 years and looks set to help North grow within the UK controls market.
