ObSys, Integrator and Commander Basic Engineering Training Course

The objective of this training course is to provide people with the knowledge and basic skills required to engineer the ObSys, Integrator and Commander products from North.

At the end of this hands-on training course you will be able to install, configure and troubleshoot these products.

Course Duration

The course lasts two days and is based at our offices in Brighton.

Target Audience

This course is aimed at people with a technical background but no specialised knowledge.

Course Contents

Session 1
  • Introduction - Introduction to the North range of products and the extensible object model (XOM).
  • Hardware Overview - Overview of the Integrator and Commander products, including installation and connectivity.
  • Engineering tool - Overview of ObSys as an engineering tool, including software installation onto delegates PC.
Session 2
  • ObServer - Introduction to ObServer, the communications core, and its built-in modules.
  • ObView - Tour of ObView, the object viewer; navigation around the system; adjusting values; objects.
  • Help Assistant - Overview of the help assistant and documentation library.
Session 3
  • Integration and Control - Interface technology; ObServer modules and the range of drivers available; introduction to the ObVerse editor.
  • Alarms - Alarm message generation and routing; viewing alarms using the Alarm Manager application.
  • Data Logging - Collecting data from the connected systems; viewing the data logs using WebView and the Data Manager application.
  • Backup and Restore - Using the save and load utilities to provide site backup, and documentation.
Session 4
  • Creating a Graphical User Interface - Using WebView or ObView to provide an integrated GUI, including user authentication.

Each session includes useful hands-on exercises.

Lunch will be provided, and refreshments will be available during the day.

Course Requirements

Delegates are required to bring along their laptop PC (see system requirements) for hands-on exercises.

Course Fees

This two day training course costs £600 per delegate. Fees include: lunch; a copy of the engineering software and documentation; attendance certificate; and access to product telephone support and software updates.
