The AlarmGen interface connects to North's Extensible Object Model, and monitors up to 500 object values and generates alarms when
exceptions occur with the value. The alarms generated are sent to an alarm object for further processing. The AlarmGen monitors different
types of values: No/Yes or Off/On values are monitored for change of state, and 'Alarm' or 'Ok' messages are sent; numeric and floating-point
values are monitored against high/low limits, and 'High', 'Low', and 'Ok' messages are generated; all values can have read faults, in which case
'Comm Alarm' or 'Comms Ok' messages are sent. The AlarmGen can either poll a remote object, and store the object’s value, or a device can
write a value into the AlarmGen. If polling is used, AlarmGen polls the objects sequentially.
As the AlarmGen interface is a system enhancement module, there is no associated device for there to be a range of products.
The AlarmGen interface is available on the following North platforms:
| CP/ALARMGEN/MRTC | Compass Point with AlarmGen interface |
| OSM/ALARMGEN | OSM available with all ObSys editions |
