AlarmGen Interface

schematic showing the AlarmGen interface The AlarmGen interface connects to North's Extensible Object Model, and monitors up to 500 object values and generates alarms when exceptions occur with the value. The alarms generated are sent to an alarm object for further processing. The AlarmGen monitors different types of values: No/Yes or Off/On values are monitored for change of state, and 'Alarm' or 'Ok' messages are sent; numeric and floating-point values are monitored against high/low limits, and 'High', 'Low', and 'Ok' messages are generated; all values can have read faults, in which case 'Comm Alarm' or 'Comms Ok' messages are sent. The AlarmGen can either poll a remote object, and store the object’s value, or a device can write a value into the AlarmGen. If polling is used, AlarmGen polls the objects sequentially.
