The ModbusTCP interface links equipment that supports the standard Modbus TCP/IP protocol to North's Extensible Object Model. The interface provides both Modbus master and slave functions.
As a master (client) device on the Modbus TCP/IP network, the interface can read and write values from up to thirty other slave devices.
As a slave (server) device on the Modbus TCP/IP network, the interface presents the contents of the User Database module as up to 960 Modbus registers. Other Modbus master devices can then access these values.
Extended decode methods are available that allow the Modbus device register values to be rescaled to engineering units.
The ModbusTCP interface can communicate with slave devices supporting the Modbus TCP/IP protocol. Additionally, legacy serial Modbus or JBus devices (RS232 and RS485) may be connected to a Modbus TCP/IP network via a serial router.
If you are only communicating with serial (RS232 or RS485) Modbus devices, then the JBus or JDevMax interfaces may be more suited to your requirements.
The ModbusTCP interface is available on the following North platforms:
| OSM/MODBUSTCP | OSM available with all ObSys editions |
