The TAP interface links paging services that support the Telocator Alphanumeric Protocol (TAP, IXO, or PET) to North's Extensible Object Model. The TAP interface connects to a PSTN modem to send messages to the TAP bureau.
Many mobile phone and paging networks world-wide support the TAP standard including, in the UK: O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile , BT paging, Orange, and PageOne.
The TAP interface and acts as an alarm destination, so other systems on North's Extensible Object Model can send messages to the paging equipment.
