The intelligent co-ordinating network

Compass was the first co-ordinating network developed specifically to provide data transport between building systems. It also supports the latest displays and telecommunications. Compass has been optimised to handle both the range of data types and the volume of communications found in modern buildings. Building control and monitoring data vary enormously. From simple values, such as fire detector status or camera position, to larger text alarm messages and historical logs of temperature readings.Some data is needed once a day, while other values might be needed every few seconds. Multiple message handling enables all messages on a Compass network, irrespective of size or type, to be treated with equal priority.

Distributed intelligence

Connections onto intelligent systems are rarely found alongside each other. - the Fire Panel may be in a reception area, the h&v control system in a maintenance room, whilst the security system could be in a gatehouse. A single Compass Point connects to each intelligent system, and by linking Compass Points together, a co-ordinating network is built up. With distances of up to a kilometre between Points, Compass has the ability to link systems across facilities. Inter-connecting Compass networks one to another brings total integration across even the largest building complexes. Modem support extends the scope of application to estates management, remote monitoring and data collection schemes, making Compass a complete integration and management platform - improving building performance, site supervision and maintenance.
