Zip is a modular data aquisition and control system that combines "plug-and-go" engineering with data transfer across Compass and IT networks via Commander. Zip is ideal for distributed monitoring and switching applications where network communications are essential.
Typical uses include monitoring and generating alarms for temperature, humidity and doors in IT server racks, or monitoring the the status of uninterruptable power supplies and stand-by generators. Zip can also be used for collecting data for environmental logging, such as temperature values in refridgeration units and cold stores.
Both Zip's hardware and software is designed for flexible, configurable data acquisition. Although Zip modules can have standard data acuisition software installed, they can also be fitted with fixed function software. For example, the digital input and output board, M7002, has been used as a cell monitoring system, and as an alarm latching system, simply by writing new software for it.
There are a wide range of Zip modules with various combinations of inputs and outputs, digital and analogue, however, there may not be one that is entirely suitable for a job that you may have. If you have a specific application for a particular combination of inputs and outputs get in contact with us and, if the numbers are right, we can design and build a suitable new hardware variant.
The family of Zip modules is always growing. With successive developments come new modules with different functionality. Please keep checking back to see whats new. At present the following data acquisition and fixed fuction Zip modules are available:
