M7002E Alarm Latching module (2 Zones with Isolate)

Zip M7002e Schematic

The Zip M7002E is the third of the fixed function alarm latching Zip modules. This module uses the M7002 board to provide 6 normally open digital inputs. These are used to latch, reset and isolate alarm states for 2 zones and also control 4 digital outputs.

The M7002E provides simple and economical room monitoring and alarm generation. The module has 6 inputs, each of which is designed for a volt free switch. The module controls 2 zones, each of which uses 3 inputs. Each zone has an alarm input, which latches when the switch is made. This latched alarm status can only be reset via another switch. Each zone also has an isolate switch which prevents alarms being generated for a predefined period. There are 4 relay outputs that are controlled by the zone states. For each zone, one output indicates if the latch is in the alarm condition, and another shows if the zone is in isolate.

A typical use for the M7002E is as a cell monitoring system. A cell could be installed with a simple volt free contact to be pressed if assistance was required. This could trigger an alarm on a GUI and also a visual or audible warning via the relay output. Having a reset directly outside the cell would mean that the only way the alarm could be acknowledged would be to physically go to the source. To prevent abuse of the alarm, the isolate input can prevent alarms being generated, but only for a short time, ensuring that the cell can not be forgotten about.

With flexibility in mind

  • Integrates seamlessly with hvac, access control and other building control and monitoring systems
  • Control over 2 zones can be provided by a single module
  • Provides remote monitoring of all current alarms
  • Latching relay outputs for local alarm indication
  • Adjustible isolate time to prevent system abuse
  • Can be connected to other alarm latching modules for central monitoring

Economical to apply

  • Low-cost Zip-based solution
  • Already proven technology
  • Employs off-the-shelf contacts for inputs

The M7002E relies on a proven RS485 network for communications between the alarm latching modules and a ZipMaster. Compass, one version of the ZipMaster, sits on an RS485-based integration network which is compatible with over 200 different building-control systems, including CCTV, bms, security, lighting and many international standards. Another version of the ZipMaster, Commander, serves information directly onto IP as HTML web pages and can send alarm messages via e-mail.
