M7002D Alarm Latching module (6 Normally Closed Inputs)

Zip M7002d Schematic

The Zip M7002D is the second of the fixed function alarm latching Zip modules. This module uses the M7002 board to provide 6 normally closed digital inputs. These are used to latch alarm states and control 4 digital outputs.

The M7002D provides simple and economical alarm generation. The module has 6 inputs, each of which is designed for a volt free switch. Each input consists of the physical switch, a latch state and a reset for the latch. When one of the switches is open an alarm is generated. The alarm is then latched until the user resets it. There are 4 relay outputs that are controlled by the alarm states. The first 3 outputs follow the states of the first 3 latches, and indicate if the latch is in the alarm condition. The fourth output is the general alarm output and signifies if any of the latches are in the alarm condition.

A typical use for the M7002D is as a room monitoring system. Each room could be installed with a simple volt free contact on a door. If the door is opened an alarm is generated and then latched. A GUI could be set up to display the phyiscal location and state of the doors, also enabling the user to reset the alarm once the problem had been dealt with. Should the user wish for a separate visual or audible method of alarm indication, the outputs could be fitted with bulbs or sirens.

With flexibility in mind

  • Integrates seamlessly with hvac, access control and other building control and monitoring systems
  • Up to 6 inputs can be provided by a single module
  • Provides remote monitoring and control of all current alarms
  • Latching relay outputs for local alarm indication
  • Can be connected to other alarm latching modules for central monitoring
  • Normally open input module also available

Economical to apply

  • Low-cost Zip-based solution
  • Already proven technology
  • Employs off-the-shelf contacts for inputs

The M7002D relies on a proven RS485 network for communications between the alarm latching modules and a ZipMaster. Compass, one version of the ZipMaster, sits on an RS485-based integration network which is compatible with over 200 different building-control systems, including CCTV, bms, security, lighting and many international standards. Another version of the ZipMaster, Commander, serves information directly onto IP as HTML web pages and can send alarm messages via e-mail.
