ObSys is updated on a regular basis and contains the latest interface, software and documentation for the range of North Building Technologies products including ObSys, Commander, Compass and Zip.

The current release of ObSys 2.0 is January 2011.

The update is available free to engineers who have previously completed a North training course. To obtain the latest software visit the download section below, or request an update CD from us.

ObSys 2.0 Release Notes

January 2012

This latest release of ObSys includes support for Commander v2.0 plus the following enhancements:

Commander v2.0 – With the release of Commander v2.0, ObSys now includes full support for our latest platform. Read more about the exciting new features available.

Heatmiser Thermostats – The new North Heatmiser driver supports the range of Heatmiser room thermostats, programmable thermostats and time-clocks to provide control of under-floor and radiator heating. Up to 32 zones, using the 12V networkable modules, are supported.

Geist monitored power distribution units – The new North GeistPDU driver connects via a TCP/IP network to up to 55 Geist PDUs. Each PDU provides current monitoring and the driver can calculate the approximate power (kW) and energy (kWh) used.

Micros Fidelio Opera hotel management system – After completing the Micros approval process, the new North MFidelio driver is now available. This driver reports each rooms occupancy state, allowing integration to your building management system of choice.

In addition, this release also includes several minor enhancements to ObServer and the BACnet/IP, alarm emailer, Morley fire detection and North Zip driver modules.

October 2011

This latest release of ObSys includes many enhancements:

Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning – The new MitsubishiG50 interface connects to the G-50 or AG-150 controller via TCP/IP, supporting up to 50 indoor units.

ALC Spectrum Lighting Controls – The new ALCSpectrum interface for the Spectrum range of lighting controls, provides access to virtual points within the lighting system.

Advanced Electronics Fire – The Advanced4000 v1.1 interface has many new enhancements, including: support for more events; option to ignore isolation events; option to use panel text when available; now check communications by polling panel; and new system object for zone information.

Protec Fire – The updated Protec v1.2 interface has several new features, including: support for more events; isolations; improved panel text used when available; and new system object for zone information.

TransMax Module – The North TransMax v1.4 data transfer module has been updated to include a write at midnight option, and enable options on individual transfers. We have also improved the ObView engineering's views.

Alarm Manager – The ObSys alarm management window has been enhanced to include support for older AlarmStore lists, and also includes several other minor fixes.

JBus/Modbus – JBus v1.5 includes minor enhancements such as support for half-float values, and formula support on decode type L (bit mask).

Morley Fire – The updated MorleyNet v1.0 interface includes modifications to allow for a longer panel text, and correctly display the state of a sub-device.

In addition, this release also includes several minor enhancements to the BACnet/IP, CalTimer, Carel, Cylon, iLight, LonSLTA, PhilipsLM, PUP, WebView and YorkTalk modules.

October 2010

This latest release of ObSys 2.0 includes many enhancements:

Alarm Manager v2.0 – Major update to support up to 20 alarm lists (including Alarm Store and Alarm History modules). Many new features include: engineering mode, saved searches, print alarms, configurable font size and dashboard mode.

Alarm Translator – The updated AlmXlate v1.1 module includes a larger alarm text translation database and support for translating whole alarm messages (including priority) using a CSV 'rules' file.

Alarm E-mail – The updated AlmEmail v2.1 module includes more destinations, an enable flag for each address, and a mini-router to select the destination based on the alarms content.

VIGIL OmniCare – The new Omnicare interface connects to the VIGIL OmniCare emergency voice communication system.

Kentec Fire – The Kentec v1.2 interface has been updated to use new commands when talking to the panel. These new commands also include notification of cleared events.

Modbus TCP/IP – The ModbusTCP v2.0 interface now includes support to make its own device values available on the Modbus TCP/IP network. This is in addition to the interface accessing other Modbus TCP/IP devices. Values from the local User Data are made available as Modbus TCP/IP values.

iLight lighting – The updated iLight v2.0 interface now includes support for connecting to the iLight SI-2 converter.

SeaChange – The SeaChng v1.1 interface has been updated to include decoding of 'I'/'O' binary values, and improved support for multi-zone controllers.

Windows 7 Support – ObSys 2.0 has now been tested to meet all of the technical requirements to be Compatible with Windows® 7. This builds on our existing "Works with Windows Vista" compliance. See system requirements for ObSys.

In addition, this release also includes several minor enhancements to the Isovel, LonSLTA, MBus, JBus, Opus, WebView, Gent and UserData modules.

February 2010

This latest release of ObSys 2.0 includes many new interfaces, and several enhancements:

BACnet/IP – The BACnetIP v2.0 interface, available for ObSys and Integrator, builds on our extensive knowledge of the BACnet Standard. This new version provides both client and server functionality, refer to the Engineering Guide for full details and PIC statement.

Vaisala Weather Station – The new VaisalaWXT interface connects to the Vaisala WXT520/510 weather station.

Modbus TCP/IP – The new ModbusTCP interface builds on our existing Modbus/JBus interface, providing a solution for Modbus device connected to a TCP/IP network.

Lutron Home Works – The new LutronHW interface is compatible with the Lutron Home Works system, controlling a range of lights and louvres.

Minerva Fire Detection – The new Minerva80 interface is compatible with the Minerva 16 and 80 fire alarm panels available from Tyco, ADT Security, Thorn and Wormald.

Clivet/Isovel – The new Isovel interface is compatible with legacy Isovel/Clivet UK air conditioning systems.

Echelon LonWorks – The updated LonSLTA interface provides support for the latest LonMark Standard Network Variable Types (SNVT). The latest ObSys release also includes support for many LonMark Certified products.

Honeywell MAX-1000 CCTV – The updated Ultrak v1.1 interface adds support for monitor, camera and macro commands.

Data Manager – Updated to support 4000 data channels, this update also includes speed enhancements and minor bug fixes.

WebView – The latest WebView web server includes: support for the new Data manager, enhanced printing CSS, and minor bug fixes.

Transfers in Commander – This update also includes sample ObVerse code to enable Compass-style transfers in Commander.

In addition, this release also includes several minor enhancements to the Protec fire, InnerRange and Simmtronic modules.
