To help you if you encounter difficulties adjusting the value of Compass driver objects, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions.

Why is it reading back '***' as values for all of the objects?

If you are reading '***' then ObSys cannot talk to that particular Compass Point. Try leaving that page and re-scanning and refreshing the Compass Network. If the particular Compass Point is in the refreshed Network, then you should see the values appear when you re-enter the page. If the Compass Point is not seen, then your problem lies with the Compass Point. Examine it further to determine the problem (things to check would be the green led status, whether another Point has the same address, network wiring, etc.).

What is the purpose of Memory Locked?

This object is used to protect the Compass driver objects from accidental change. If it is currently set to 'Yes' and you wish to alter an object then you will need to begin by setting Memory Locked to 'No'. Then you may make your adjustments to the Compass driver objects concerned. Complete the process by resetting Memory Locked to 'Yes'. It is always good practice to use the Reset Compass Point object once adjustments have been made and the Point has been locked. This ensures that the Compass Point is initialised with the new settings.

Why can't I change the values even though Memory Locked is set to 'No'?

If the Memory Lock is set to 'No' when you make your adjustments, and they still don't change then perhaps you are writing the wrong value to the object. Are you writing a value that is valid? By valid, we mean is the value within limits, for example that a Device Number is in the range 1...63, or that the Point Label is no longer than 20 characters long (including spaces). Refer to the individual Compass Driver's engineering guide for acceptable values for each object.
